Unsettling + Q&A
Institute of Contemporary Arts
Unsettling, dir. Iris Zaki, Israel / UK 2018, 70 min., Spanish with English subtitles

In an effort to learn more about the Israeli settlements in Palestinian territories, award-winning leftist documentarian Iris Zaki (Women in Sink) temporarily relocates from Tel Aviv to the Tekoa settlement on the West Bank. Setting up shop in the local cafe and striking up conversations (and confrontations) with Tekoa’s initially wary residents, Zaki queries their political beliefs, seeking understanding and common ground. With a carefully balanced tone of criticism and respect, Unsettling explores one of the most divisive issues in Israel today.
