This lively documentary follows DJ Jigüe – who created Cuba’s first independent Afro-Cuban music label and arts collective – to his hometown of Santiago de Cuba to explore the origins of bakosó. Delving into the cultural history of this Afrobeats/Cuban-fusion genre, the film traces the influence of Afrobeats on music production worldwide.

This screening is part of Film Feels: Obsession, a UK-wide cinema season supported by the National Lottery and BFI Film Audience Network.
