Case Study: La Termita Films
Institute of Contemporary Arts

The Legend of Time (La leyenda del tiempo), Dir. Isaki Lacuesta, Spain 2006, 115 min.

Focusing on La Termita Films, a Girona-based film collective led by filmmakers Isaki Lacuesta and Isa Campo, this discussion will explore the challenges of independent cinema production. Hosted by film critic and programmer Maria Delgado, this seminar will consider the practical issues faced by La Termita such as funding, as well as broader concepts such as the role independent filmmaking can play in uniting communities. Using La Termita’s remarkable and deeply political work as a basis of discussion, this case study will consider the radical possibilities inherent in the collaborative relationship between filmmakers and their subjects.

Isaki Lacuesta’s Between Two Waters (Entre Dos Aguas), produced by La Termita Films, is featured in this year’s FoR.
