Featuring work by artist Patrick Staff and their peers, an evening of screenings, music and readings.
ON VENUS, STILL extrapolates and complicates notions of a parallel life explored by Staff in their exhibition (and poem of the same name) On Venus, which presents a queer state of being that is volatile and in constant metamorphosis. On Staff’s Venus, ‘life is chemically modified and sensorially charged in an alternate state of non-life or near-death’; ON VENUS, STILL situates itself at the site of this disjunction.
ON VENUS, STILL continues the format of Staff’s previous performance-screenings, including Uniform Smoke (Chisenhale Gallery, 2015) and Clean Needles Now & Now (Navel, Los Angeles, 2018).
