Eugenio Polgovsky’s acclaimed 2008 documentary The Inheritors depicts the daily lives of children living in rural Mexico who, with their families, survive only by virtue of their unrelenting labour. As these exceptionally young workers plant and harvest food, weave textiles, shepherd animals, collect wood and care for their siblings, they reveal how the cycle of poverty passes from one generation to another.
