How to Film Nothing: An Open Air Workshop with Boris Mitic
Institute of Contemporary Arts

As part of In formation III’s free programming, the director of In Praise of Nothing leads a tongue-in-cheek, open air workshop addressing critical questions around the science of mind, society and culture.

This exercise offers a quirky overview of the creative and production challenges of making Boris Mitić’s whistleblowing documentary parody, in which he explores the process of creating a narrative from thousands of hours of footage shot by filmmakers across the globe. The project started in bankrupt Serbia and took eight years to make, shuffling its way through 20,000 pages of eclectic bibliography; a crew of 62 cinematographers brainstorming on a unique, anonymous online platform; and shooting across 70 countries.
