Unearthing startling links between the lab-grown axolotls (salamander) of Lake Pátzcuaro in Mexico, apple-picking AI machines and the sequencing of indigenous people’s DNA, this speculative film essay is an eloquent reflection on urgent ecopolitical issues precipitated by systems of extraction. Clark and Gibisser explore the intersection of science and humanity, whilst grounding non-human perspectives as the guiding light in imagining a different future.
