A family of artists are holidaying together in a house by the lake where Alex and Konstantin live, playing cards and taking plunges. Moving loosely from Chekov’s play The Seagull and beginning on a stage, in Afternoon, Schanelec, an actress who began her career in theatre, is as much interested in relation as she is in its absence and uncertainties, in where familial structures might fail and what then might come after.
