Conceived by the mind of London-born producer, composer and singer-songwriter Cold, Denied Parties is a DIY late-night conduit for genre-blending music resonating among the fringes of inner-city nightlife. They invite Florence Sinclair, Jawnino, LC, Lol K and Platinum Blonde to bridge the cathartic releases of live performance, DJing and movement, designing an escape from club conventions and towards liberating sonics and intimate atmospheres.
Platinum Blonde are the South London Rick Rubin and Producer Pimp (Cajm + Cold). They scribble sounds in a bid to make the world’s most Unintelligent Dance Music (UDM). ‘We’re The Prodigy but stupid.’ ‘It’s like the simple life but instead of getting a job we make music.’
Florence Sinclair is a black British contemporary producer and singer-songwriter. At the age of 12, they started exploring music through hip hop and grime, which still informs their current practice. Later they started experimenting with ambient sounds, which from there birthed the Florence Sinclair moniker. As a Black, Caribbean British musician, their work embodies their multifaceted identity by merging the intersections of existing genres, cultures and histories, creating avant-garde compositions that challenge listeners’ expectations.
Jawnino straddles the line between electronic sub genres of grime, house and jungle with soundscapes that recontextualise these genres into something of his own dubbed the ‘40’. In 2022 he released two EPs – ‘4040’ and ‘Few songs b4 40’, and has toured with musicians like Klein and Jeshi. Faceless and shrouded with mystery, Jawnino guides you through his 40.
LC is a dj, vocalist, and producer based in South London. Her music interlaces elements of pop and a wide span of electronic music to craft a rich tapestry of sonic yearning. Bleeding heart lyricism and breathy sirensong characterise her sonic offerings. Her recent releases include epic pop EP Gaze-Star alongside Charles Verni on Kelman Duran and Ans M’s Scorpio Red label.
Lol K are a duo from South London comprised of CJ Calderwood and Junior XL. Their second EP The Breeze was released via Halcyon Veil in 2020, following their debut project Born Under a Bad One, released via the collective Curl. Through chaotic, frequently harmonious genre mutations, Lol K create a sonic vision that defies category. They draw inspiration from post classical, grunge and contemporary club music. The live show uses electronics, wind instruments, guitar, piano and vocals to take apart and recontextualise their recent output.
