pity party: Performance by Michelangelo Miccolis and nick von kleist
Institute of Contemporary Arts
Autumn Knight, video still from Complain/Disappoint, 2023
Book tickets

Final party and performance blend into one in this unique event, conceptualised by Autumn Knight and performed by Michelangelo Miccolis and nick von kleist. The final performance in a series accompanying Knight's solo exhibition I Can't Complain, exploring the nuances and pleasures of complaint.

Miccolis and von kleist host a party in the exhibition space, with a DJ, drinks, and an invitation to catch up and air your grievances. Moving between hospitality and performance, the hosts slip in and out of character as they engage with the audience. A live video feed captures the physical manifestations of complaint in close-up and relays the footage into the back gallery.

Complimentary drinks will be available in the gallery while supplies last. Visitors are also welcome to purchase drinks from the ICA Bar. The performance is durational, and audiences are welcome to come and go at any time between 7–10pm.
