ICA is closed from the 30 May – 3 June inclusive.
The first feature from French writer-director Charline Bourgeois-Tacquet trails a young woman who finds herself at a romantic crossroads, and chooses to travel down every possible route.
Anaïs (Anaïs Demoustier) leads a chaotic life: stony broke, late for everything and sorry for nothing. She’s also stuck in a relationship that seems long past its prime, until at a party, she meets Daniel (Denis Podalydès), a man old enough to be her father. She falls for him. And then, just like that, she falls for his long-time partner Emilie (Valeria Bruni Tedeschi), who might just offer the contentment she wants. Elevated by fabulous performances from Demoustier and Bruni Tedeschi, Bourgeois-Tacquet crafts a nuanced and relatable portrait of a woman who seems in no rush to find out what she really wants.
