ICA is closed from the 30 May – 3 June inclusive.
In their first feature, co-directors Paul Felten and Joe DeNardo explore the thrills and unpredictabilities of creative life through the eyes of Stephanie (Stephanie Hayes), an out-of-work actress in New York City. We find her in a precarious position, leaving her chaotic Brooklyn apartment as she absconds to Upstate New York, evidently avoiding someone – or something.
Interwoven with – or perhaps fractured by – a dalliance with a mysterious and sometimes irksome counterterrorism agent Gerard (Scott Shepherd), Stephanie’s life is a daily improvisation. But her desire to create and be creative may get her into more trouble than it’s worth.
This screening will feature an introduction from season curator Chris Cassingham, and a post-screening virtual Q&A with the film’s directors, Paul Felten and Joe DeNardo and lead actors Stepahnie Hayes and Scott Shepherd.
