UK PREMIERE Topology of Sirens + online Q&A
Institute of Contemporary Arts
A person wears headphones, listening deeply to recordings coming out of a mixer. They are surrounded by house plants in a well-lit room
Topology of Sirens, dir. Jonathan Davies, USA 2021, 104 min, English

A discovery of cryptic microcassette in her aunt’s old house propels Cas (documentary filmmaker Courtney Stephens) on a sonic scavenger hunt through the lush outskirts of Los Angeles, its diverse musical community, and through history itself, for answers.

Inspired by ’90s point-and-click computer games with a touch of Antonioni, Jonathan Davies’s formally assured debut feature commands your attention without demanding it. Using sound as its driving force, Topology of Sirens announces an exciting new filmmaker to watch – and listen to.

This screening will feature an introduction from season curator Chris Cassingham, and a post-screening virtual Q&A with the film’s director Jonathan Davies.
