ICA is closed from the 30 May – 3 June inclusive.
First-time directors Matt Fifer and Kieran Mulcare tackle the twin complexities of sexuality and self-discovery in this tender and warm-hearted New York story about two men who must come to terms with their pasts before they can shape their futures.
Thirtysomething New Yorker Ben (co-director Fifer, who also wrote the script) is in a rut, his life a parade of meaningless hook-ups and awkward sessions with his free-spirited therapist Sophie (Cobie Smulders). Things change when he forms an immediate connection with Sam (Sheldon D Brown) – yet as the pair get closer, cracks begin to show, and the pair soon come to realise that they need to work on themselves if they’re to let anyone else in.
