UK THEATRICAL PREMIERE Death of A Virgin, and The Sin Of Not Living
Institute of Contemporary Arts
Death of A Virgin, and The Sin Of Not Living, dir. George Peter Barbari, Lebanon 2021, 86 min., Arabic with English subtitles

Adnan (Adnan Khabbaz) is taking Etienne (Etienne Assal), Jean Paul (Jean Paul Franjieh) and Dankoura (Saad Elie Dankoura) to visit a prostitute for the first time – three troubled teens on their way to lose their virginity and win their acceptance into manhood. But throughout the night, Etienne embarks on an unforeseen journey into himself. He goes in – but will he ever really come out?

George Peter Barbari is an Argentine-Lebanese filmmaker, born in Orange County, California and raised in Batroun, Lebanon. Based on his own childhood, Barbari’s debut film combines his intense urge to encapsulate his own past with the devout belief that so many others go through what he went through – of having to deal with life despite not knowing how to do so.
