Following its premiere in the Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes 2006, Honour of the Knights has gone on to garner critical acclaim across the globe for its Beckett-tinged, cinematic distillation of Don Quixote. Reducing and reworking the plot of Cervantes’ novel to its fundamentals, the film follows Quixote and Sancho as they set off in search of adventure.
Albert Serra’s debut feature, this defiantly experimental slice of auteur cinema provides hints to his works to come, marked by an exquisitely picturesque craft and a cast of non-professional actors.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Albert Serra, hosted by Maria Delgado.
