In Focus: Nuri Bilge Ceylan

To coincide with the release of his latest film About Dry Grasses, we are delighted to present a programme of five films celebrating the singular work of Turkish filmmaker Nuri Bilge Ceylan.

From his tense family drama Three Monkeys to his Palme d'Or winning Chekhov-inspired epic Winter SleepTurkish filmmaker Nuri Bilge Ceylan has over the past two decades become one of the most renowned names in world cinema.

This programme of five films includes his beautifully photographed crime drama Once Upon a Time in Anatolia, the wryly-philosophic The Wild Pear Tree, and a special preview screening of his new film About Dry Grasses.

Three Monkeys
When an aspiring politician commits a ‘hit and run‘ car accident, he convinces his chauffeur to take the rap, in return for a lump sum upon his release from prison. Nuri Bilge Ceylan won the Best Director award in Cannes for this tense and stunning family drama.

Once Upon a Time in Anatolia on 35mm
An epic and rigorous tale of a night and day in a murder investigation, Once Upon a Time in Anatolia is a beautifully photographed crime drama about police and prosecutors locating a buried body through one long night in the Anatolian steppes.

Winter Sleep
Winner of the Palme d'Or in 2014, Nuri Bilge Ceylan's seventh feature is an exquisitely constructed epic that subtly explores the complexities and moral compromises of daily life.
