Infiltrators

Infiltrators, dir. Khaled Jarrar, Palestine / Lebanon 2012, 70 min., Arabic with English subtitles

This suspenseful non-fiction work by Palestinian filmmaker Khaled Jarrar follows attempts by everyday Palestinians finding ways to get past the Israeli-built separation wall. In order to work jobs, reach places of worship, or visit family, people must get to the other side. Searching for gaps along the barrier, including the 8m-high concrete wall, we watch as these attempts unravel. Fear, angst, speed and a network of lookouts through dark passages are parts of this life-threatening crossing. While some attempts end in capture, others make it through – this time.

Infiltrators is an important work, turning the audience as a witness of the chilling cat-and-mouse game of the attempts at life and livelihood.
