Life on Venus, dir. Norbert Schoerner
Book tickets
Awkward Moments & friends present Life on Venus, a 90-minute live exploration into Expanded Cinema.
Blurring the line between screen and stage, this mixed-media event invites you into a kaleidoscopic world where film, music, dance, and performance collide — a celebratory space for queer and non-binary expression.
The evening showcases six immersive works responding to a single question: How does fluid queer identity emerge in your artistic practice? From hypnotic soundscapes and radical movement to visionary film, each piece becomes part of a shared queer dreamscape that dissolves boundaries between artist and audience.
The programme presents works from Awkward Moments, Norbert Schoerner, Zoë Marden, Eloise Fornieles, HOWL, Sarah Nimmo, Grace Pickering and Rowdy SS.

Awkward Moments are a London-based art-house duo – sound artist Mimi Xu and multi-instrumentalist/vocalist MAGUIRE – who fuse hypnotic electronics with striking visual language. Known for their genre-defying experimental performances that blur the boundaries between rave culture and ritual, they create multi-sensory narrative landscapes that invite audiences into otherworldly states of transcendence.
Norbert Schoerner is a visionary Bavarian artist and filmmaker renowned for bold, cutting-edge visuals in fashion and art. He’s crafted iconic campaigns for Prada and Louis Vuitton and collaborated with legends like Alexander McQueen and Lady Gaga. His work has appeared in The Face, Vogue, and Dazed, and been shown worldwide. Recently, Schoerner has pushed creative boundaries with AI-driven imagery and curated THE FACE: Culture Shift at the National Portrait Gallery.

A graduate of the RCA, Marden is one half of the feminist performance duo SMZW and has exhibited internationally, with recent shows in London, Hong Kong and Shanghai.

Fornieles has exhibited internationally in cities such as New York, Paris, Athens and Beijing.
HOWL are a UK vocal ensemble blending opera, folk, and experimental music into lush, haunting, often absurd vocal compositions. They’ve released two EPs with Cosmo Sheldrake and are working on their debut album. Her debut solo album is set for release in 2025, blending contemporary pop, balearic house, and soaring ballads. After a sold-out debut show, she’s headlined Corsica Studios and released singles ‘Underground’—a tribute to London’s queer scene—and ‘Night & Day,’ inspired by classic Ibiza house.
Grace Pickering is a Raindance-nominated director and photographer whose cinematic style merges intimacy with high-impact visuals. With a decade of experience in London, New York and LA, she has directed campaigns and content for artists and brands including Calvin Harris, Sam Smith, A24, and Vogue.
