ICA is closed from the 30 May – 3 June inclusive.
Building an intimate and powerful portrait of many landscapes, from the mountains of Greece to the canals of the UK, these filmmakers quietly observe their surroundings and ask: do we really belong to our local surroundings when nature ultimately (re)claims that space?
As a village submerges under the weight of rain and a 200-metre power station is demolished after many decades, nature seems to find a way to show its strength and resilience - yet can also be a neutral ground for holding stories. Reflections on affinity and planting roots accompany our protagonist on what might otherwise be a lonely pilgrimage. All four films invite us to slow down, and observe each landscape in order to reflect within.
