ICA is closed from the 30 May – 3 June inclusive.
Dividing labour in an already biased ecosystem, performing becomes no longer a duty of pleasure, but acted out of necessity. The extraction of energy is fundamentally physical when meeting imposing expectations and demands. In 1983, French actress Maria Schneider gives an interview for the TV show Cinéma Cinémas, and decades later, a performer interprets Mary Wigman’s 1926 performance piece Hexentanz.
