Director David Lynch's face is reflected in many different ways on shards of glass
Lynch/Oz, dir. Alexandre O. Philippe, USA 2022, English, 15

Follow the Yellow Brick Road and you end up … not in the merry old land of Oz but in the even stranger town of Twin Peaks. That’s the theory of Swiss director Alexandre O Philippe, whose engaging feature-length documentary explores the enduring connections between The Wizard of Oz and the work of David Lynch.

‘There is not a day that goes by that I don’t think about The Wizard of Oz,’ said David Lynch in 2001. Lynch’s admission planted a seed in the mind of Philippe, whose catalogue of features includes deep dives into Star Wars (The People vs George Lucas), Psycho (78/52) and zombie movies (Doc of the Dead). Some two decades later, the seed has grown into this entertaining feature – with Philippe joined by the likes of John Waters and Karyn Kusama as he documents Lynch’s obsession with America’s primordial fairytale.
