The dark melodrama by Francesco Costabile is based on the true story of Luigi Celeste's autobiography about his upbringing in a violent family with far-right extremist connections. Familia premiered at the 2024 Venice International Film Festival, where its lead actor, Francesco Gheghi, won the award for Best Actor in the Horizons section.
Familia is is selected as the Italian entry for Best International Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards.
