Directed by Anna Fox, Sarah Jeans and Anne Parisio, Picture This is a heartwarming portrait of three groups of women in Edinburgh, Farnham and London. The women are from refugee and migrant communities and a women’s refuge, as they have all had to leave their own countries or homes because of war, their sexuality or to escape abusive relationships. Professor Anna Fox, an internationally renowned photographer and university lecturer introduces us to the different participants as they receive training to use photography to reinterpret their experiences and create moving images. Through a series of industry visits, industry partners and visiting lectures, Anna introduces the women to aspects of the industry with the aim of helping them to develop future careers in the photography industries.

Picture This, is an output of Putting Ourselves in The Picture – Part 2 Engaging With Industry which has been funded through the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and the University for The Creative Arts (UCA). The project is part of Fast Forward: Women in Photography, which was established in 2014 at UCA Farnham, UK. Fast Forward is a world wide research network that gathers and disseminates new knowledge about past and present female photographers, with the aim of empowering women through engaging in debate, discourse and dissemination about these often hidden histories.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the directors and participants.
