Reyhaneh is a lonely woman in her early 30s who lives in Kashan. She comes from a traditional family, and has decided to separate from her husband. She goes to live with her brother in their old family home, but he is facing financial difficulties and plans to sell their home to reimburse his debts. He forcefully advises her to enter into a new marriage.
 
This was Raisian’s first feature film. It was made ten years after the Islamic revolution in Iran, and a year after the end of the Iran-Iraq war, when Iranians were emerging from the financial and personal sacrifices imposed by war. It broke new ground in centring on the difficulties and dilemmas a woman can face on account of family pressures and traditions, and in exploring how she handles those situations, in search of happiness.
