The incomparable Bruce LaBruce (Otto; or, Up with Dead People) returns with a typically heady reinvention of the Narcissus myth – transported to ’70s Canada, inspired by contemporary social media culture and rooted in an unexpected romance between two men with more in common than appearance alone.
Quebec, 1972. Dominic (Félix-Antoine Duval) is a young man obsessed with himself, a modern-day Narcissus aroused by nothing more than his own appearance. But when Dominic’s grandmother dies, he discovers that his family history is far more complex than he realised – and that he has an identical twin brother, raised in a monastery by a depraved priest. The twins soon become entangled in a web of lust, revenge and redemption – will the spell between them break?
The screening on Friday 22 April is followed by a live online Q&A with director Bruce LaBruce.
