Blending immersive cinematography with gripping verité footage, Alex Pritz’s gripping documentary offers a unique perspective on an indigenous community’s fight for their rights to their land in the Brazilian Amazon.
Deep in the rainforest, a battle is raging between the last of the indigenous Uru-eu-wau-wau tribe and the farmers who, backed by President Bolsonaro, are slowly eating into what should be protected territory. But young activist Bitate, together with his mentor Neidinha, is mobilising an army of self-taught journalists to patrol the jungle and document the land grabbers in action – armed with just a video camera and their wits. Pritz’s highly dramatic documentary captures the essence of a conflict between right and wrong – and the courage and resistance needed to win it.
