British Ghanaian artist Larry Achiampong makes the move into feature films with this potent and powerful exploration of class, culture, heritage and home.
An unnamed pandemic, today or in the near future. A young girl known only as The Wanderer (Perside Rodrigues) sets out on an intrepid journey south through England – from Hadrian’s Wall to the Kent coast, via everywhere from a Wellingborough housing estate to Pellicci’s café in Bethnal Green.
Filmed during lockdown and drawing on a diverse range of references, from sci-fi and folk song to painting and video games, the resultant feature makes for a profound reckoning with the landscape and culture of contemporary England.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Larry Achiampong, hosted by the Director of the Independent Cinema Office Catharine Des Forges.
