Photobook publishing has grown exponentially over the last decade, and in this moment of abundance, they reflect on how we might retool or reimagine its mechanisms to better serve artists and audiences.
Together, they explore how books function as creative tools, how they have navigated the often imbalanced power dynamics within publishing, and what an artist-led approach to publishing could look like. They will discuss the values they believe are critical for the next phase of photobook making and how publishing can evolve to better serve the communities it represents.

Bios
Gem Fletcher is a writer, consultant and podcaster whose work explores photography, art and contemporary culture and how they shape and inform who we are and how we live. Her work has been published in Foam, Aperture, Dazed, It’s Nice That. Creative Review, 1000 Words and The British Journal of Photography. She has written monograph texts for Rhiannon Adam, Juan Brenner, Maggie Shannon and Flora Hanitijo, amongst others. She also hosts The Messy Truth podcast, a series of candid conversations that unpack the future of visual culture and what it means to be a photographer today. Now in its tenth season, Gem explores reflections on criticism, starting out, mental health, politics and success with guests like Antwuan Sargent, Catherine Opie, Farah Al Qasimi, Carmen Winant, Charlotte Cotton, Quil Lemons, Brea Souders and Laia Abril.
Gabby Laurent (b. 1985, British) is a London-based portrait photographer and artist whose work explores the intersection of photography and performance. Her work is rooted in feminist art historical traditions and explores themes of aggression, control, vulnerability and domesticity- often through gestural self-portraiture and staged performative acts.
British-Ghanaian artist, photographer, and director Campbell Addy draws inspiration from his culturally diverse upbringing, shaping an intimate exploration of identity and a distinctive visual language. Since graduating from Central Saint Martins in 2016, Addy has gained international recognition through collaborations with leading global brands and publications, including Vogue, Dazed, Nike, Audemars Piguet, and Cartier.
His work has earned numerous accolades, including a place on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list, and the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator at the British Fashion Awards. Addy released his critically acclaimed first monograph, Feeling Seen: The Photographs of Campbell Addy.
Addy presented I Love Campbell, a major solo exhibition at 180 Studios, featuring photography, painting, and film shot on location in Ghana. The project toured internationally with Addy headlining the International Photo Biennial in Australia, following receipt of the Royal Photographic Society Award for Fashion, Advertising, and Commercial Photography.
