Continuing our exploration of alternative publishing spaces, A Flickering Space Where the Deed Dissolves transforms TALKER into a live, generative publication, weaving interviews, live-feed cameras and record players into an evolving constellation of performance knowledge.
Using two live-feed cameras and two record players, Giles Bailey presents a collaged story of the process of meeting and interviewing performance-makers. Over the course of the performance, details from the interviews are shared as actions, marking these diverse insights into liveness in new ways. The actions accumulate, building a constellation of performance knowledge that explores how a publication might become a live and generative space.

Bio
Giles Bailey works with performance, using texts, video fragments and choreographies to explore how knowledge and meaning are generated through relationships with others.
Since 2016, he has published TALKER, an interview zine about performance. Each issue contains a long-form interview with an artist who works in an innovative way with live practice. The publication has featured Ian White, Sue Tompkins, Dora García, Spalding Gray, Kathy Acker, Jo Fong, Paul Maheke, Gustav Metzger, Barby Asante, Miranda July, Agus Nur Amal PMTOH, Bobby Baker, Mayo Thompson, Anne Bean and Martín La Roche.

- The Nash and Brandon Rooms are located on the second floor and can be accessed via a ramp and lift from Carlton House Terrace. Please note that the lift is small (see measurements in our Visual Story Guide) and cannot accommodate motorised wheelchairs; a transfer to a standard chair is required. For assistance, please speak to staff at the front desk on arrival or contact us in advance at access@ica.art.
