Tyondai Braxton
The first of two CTM × ICA 2026 nights converges on the art of reconstruction, pairing meticulous avant-garde worlds with hyper-regional sonic archaeology.
Composer, performer and multi-instrumentalist Tyondai Braxton presents material from his forthcoming Erased Tapes album Splayed Werks. Across orchestral writing, electronics, and densely layered rhythmic structures, Braxton's work has long occupied a singular space between contemporary composition and experimental music. Splayed Werks extends that trajectory, bringing together intricate arrangements and shivering sonic architectures in a performance foregrounding accumulation and transformation.
Algorithmic instigator Rian Treanor splices custom generative software into the post-industrial backdrop of South Yorkshire, fracturing techno's conventions into ricocheting rhythmic grids. Partnering with Rotherham Sight & Sound, a local charity for blind and deaf people, he developed bespoke digital synthesisers over four years of collaboration, designing them specifically for the visually impaired residents who had no previous musical experience. This collaborative framework subverts standard timing structures, reframing a total lack of cultural conditioning as pure instinctual noise, metallic raggas swivelling in volatile frictions. Traditional ideas of accessibility are dismantled as community-led experimentation rebuilds them into a vehicle of destabilising futureshock.
London-based audiovisual duo AM sin create immersive sonic environments combining modular synthesis and operatic vocal layering. Working across dark ambient, industrial and drone, their practice is experimental and improvisational at its core. AM sin build slowly developing through real-time interaction into expansive soundscapes with a strong physical presence, creating spaces that are both vulnerable and confrontational.
For CTM x ICA, AM sin present a live performance of primal intensity, spatialized in d&b Soundscape. Live visuals by Daisy Dickinson, who works across moving image, immersive installations and live audiovisual performance, creating visceral and atmospheric visual worlds. The set takes the form as a ritualistic encounter, beginning with delicate ambient passages and gradually accumulating through voice, modular synthesis and fractured textures towards a climactic release. Moving between intimacy and surrender, the work pushes towards a point where control begins to give way.

Stage
- The Stage has step free access via The Mall entrance and lift. The lift in the Stage is self-controlled with hand control, with two buttons for up and down (max weight 300kg). It is without sides and includes a vertical pole to hold on to. It operates quietly and will not disrupt the performance. Our Public Advisors can also assist.
