Ex-Easter Island Head (in-the-round) - MATINEE SHOW ADDED
Institute of Contemporary Arts

3pm matinee show added due to demand. 7,30pm show now sold out.

Ex-Easter Island Head are a UK-based experimental musical collective composing and performing music for solid body electric guitar, percussion and other instruments. For this exclusive performance, the group will perform in-the-round and using the venue's state-of-the-art d&b Soundscape system.

The group plays multiple electric guitars augmented through mechanical preparations and extended techniques, creating hypnotic performances rich in repetition, shimmering drones and melodic invention through purposefully limited means.

Their records and live performances have received significant critical acclaim from the likes of The Wire, Pitchfork, the Quietus and the New York Times. Favourably compared to the likes of Steve Reich, Glenn Branca and John Cage, the groups' music has been praised for its mixture of percussive drive, emotional warmth and playful experimentation. Their most recent album Norther was released by Rocket Recordings in May 2024, hitting the #1 spot of The Quietus' top 100 albums of the year.

"You must see this group. They are minimalist noise art but come on like entertainment. Absolutely captivating, classy, beautiful and sublime. No-one could fail to think this was amazing and brilliant" - Stewart Lee

Manchester-based experimentalists Hyperdawn have honed their own distinct, hands-on approach to music making, using live reel-to-reel tape processing, electronics and vocals. From vast off-kilter beats to melting r’n’b croons, theirs is a language between pop and performance art.
