Following a sold-out show in 2024, we are excited to welcome back one of the most formidable live acts going, as Japan's Goat perform at the ICA this November.

"Perhaps the tightest band in existence right now... we ain’t talking about the Swedish psych troupe, nor the Greek metal act; but the infinitely superior Japanese GOAT (jp) who take the micro-precision of computer music and play it on instruments" Boomkat

Formed as a quartet in 2013 by Koshiro Hino, goat’s original lineup consisted of guitar, saxophone, bass and drums. Today’s evolution offers a quintet that fluidly switches instruments depending on the song. Disregarding traditional musical forms their melodies focus on muted sounds and harmonics from outside of the 12-tone scale. Their minimalist compositions are an exercise in persistent repetition, filled with contradictions - complex yet simple, mechanical yet sensual - operating in an almost trance-like state in their performances. goat released their third album, Joy in Fear (NAKID), in 2023, and a collection of tracks created for a contemporary dance project, Without References / Cindy Van Acker (Latency), in 2025.
