ICA presents the UK premiere of a collaborative project between celebrated LA producer/DJ Nosaj Thing and Daito Manabe, Tokyo's godfather of audio-visual innovation.
As DJ and producer Nosaj Thing has been actively releasing music and performing for 15 years, producing tracks for Kendrick Lamar, Kid Cudi, and Chance The Rapper, and remixing a diverse roster of generation-spanning artists including Philip Glass, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Flying Lotus.
The impressive and long-standing cultural dialogue between the ever-evolving two artists started with the agenda-setting 2012 music video for 'Eclipse/Blue' featuring Kazu Makino of Blonde Redhead, through to the boundary breaking 'No Reality' global tour that was unveiled at Coachella 2016 - through to the recently improvised showcase at FIL. Entitled 'Material Works', the 2026 performance series was launched as a live AV installation, Nosaj and Daito joined by designer David Rudnick.
Their new single 'LXR' introduces a new era for the storied partnership, one that follows their acclaimed collaborative live performance at Future Frequencies Festival in Tokyo at MoN Takanawa: The Museum of Narratives, and the release of Daito Manabe's debut EP 'dm studies 00 - 004' on Nosaj Thing's Timetable.
