ICA is closed from the 30 May – 3 June inclusive.
ICA and Speakers Corner Quartet (SCQ) are thrilled to present Out There In Here, a residency featuring the Ivor Novello Award-winning quartet this November.
Today, we unveil the first chapter of this residency—a groundbreaking live experience, presented in-the-round and spatialised using d&b audiotechnik's cutting-edge 360° Soundscape system. Enlisting an orchestra of robotic instruments as co-creators, SCQ will explore how technology is transforming the very fabric of music composition and performance.
Following back-to-back sold-out shows at the Barbican and a recent headline performance at the Royal Festival Hall as part of Chaka Khan’s Meltdown, here SCQ offer a more intimate, up-close experience, but one which is no less bold in its ambition. In true SCQ style, the performances will feature a host of collaborators, including 3D print designers and spatial audio pioneers Loss><Gain (@loss_._gain), who will join forces with SCQ and their robotic ensemble.
SCQ have been developing musical robots for several years now and this residency will not only reveal their potential as musical tools, but they will be sharing their secrets with a new generation, with an accompanying workshop programme (announcing soon), inviting audiences to dive deeper into this cutting-edge fusion of art and technology.
Prepare for an ever-evolving live experience that will honour the ICA’s long-standing tradition of avant-garde experimentation.
Please note: Tickets are limited to 200 per show. We advise booking early.
