Heathen Earth
Sun 18 Oct, 2pm
A one-off screening of Heathen Earth, Throbbing Gristle’s 1980 recording, filmed on 16 February at Industrial Records Studios, Martello Street, London.

Come to the ICA on 18 October 2026 for a free event marking 50 years since Throbbing Gristle’s incendiary live performance at the gallery, staged as part of their notorious Prostitution exhibition.
Throbbing Gristle – Cosey Fanni Tutti, Chris Carter, Genesis Breyer P-Orridge (1950–2020) and Peter ‘Sleazy’ Christopherson (1955–2010) – activated 50 years ago, on 3 September 1976. Their Prostitution exhibition and performance at the ICA triggered a tabloid furore, with the Daily Mirror declaring “MP’s fury at porn palace” and the Daily Express running with “Bust-up at Gallery of Porn”. In Parliament, Conservative MP Nicholas Fairbairn famously denounced Throbbing Gristle as “wreckers of civilisation”.
To mark the anniversary, come and listen to the music of TG on the ICA’s d&b Soundscape system alongside like-minded individuals, share stories and memories of the time, and reflect on Throbbing Gristle, Industrial Records and the state of the world.
There will also be exclusive merchandise available, plus a signing opportunity with Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti.
The listening event is free to attend, and you can drop in throughout the day between 12–8pm. Alongside this, there will be two cinema screenings and a talk, available through separate ticketed events.
