“Intimacy is much more (and much less) than sex,” Sophie K. Rosa writes in Radical Intimacy. This selection of new short films explores the connections we desire, or fear.
A sensory animation creates an ethereal journey through a woman’s memories and desires, a ritual of intimacy between two men in a sauna defies expectations of masculinity and a woman explores polyamory through a diary documentary. A young couple’s tumultuous relationship plays out like a guerilla documentary/music video, a threesome brings complications with emotional connection, a bull sparks a married couple’s primal desire, and an abstract short reminds us of the most complex machine lacking care: the human body.
Sauna Day, dir. Anna Hints / Tushar Prakash, Estonia 2024, 13 mins
Shadow of the Butterflies, dir. Sofia El Khyari, Morocco 2023, 9 mins
How Many Lovers Can You Fit Inside a House?, dir. Maya Sfakianaki, Spain 2024, 20 mins
Angels May Cry, dir. Quinton Kienow Dominguez, USA 2024, 20 mins
Humanmachine, dir. Laura Baalmann / Louis Brückner, Germany 2023, 3 mins
Only You and Me, dir. Diego Monsiváis García, Sweden 2024, 7 mins
The Bull, dir. Victor Nauwynck, UK 2024, 20mins
