Greatest Hits, dir. Nicolás Pereda, Mexico 2012, Spanish with English subtitles, 100 min

After 15 years away, Emilio returns to the Mexico City home of his estranged wife Teresa and their son Gabino. His presence quickly disrupts their established routines, while Gabino continues his precarious work selling compilation CDs on the street. But just as this story of an absent father seems to settle into place, Greatest Hits begins to repeat, revise and ultimately dismantle itself.

Bringing together actors, characters and situations familiar from his earlier films, Pereda turns the family drama into a mischievous investigation of performance itself in an exploration of what happens when the people in front of the camera cease to be distinguishable from the roles they play.
