Privilege, dir. Yvonne Rainer, USA 1990, 103 min., English, Spanish with English subtitles

Yvonne Rainer's sixth feature is a genuinely subversive movie about menopause. Out of a subject that has been virtually invisible on film, Rainer fashions a witty, risky work about sexual identity and the unequal economies of race, gender and class.

One of Rainer’s most narratively complex films, Privilege shifts from documentary to a deadpan and delightfully anarchic autobiographical metafilm exploring the power dynamics underpinning experience, memory and the manner in which women’s stories are told.

This is the UK Premiere of the 4K restoration of the work.
