Luis Miñarro is arguably one of Catalonia’s most influential producers. His production company Eddie Saeta, established in 1989, is governed by the premise that ‘cinema is an art’ and has supported a plethora of features that have pushed at the boundaries of cinema’s possibilities. His list of features encompasses both key works of contemporary Catalan cinema like José Luis Guerín’s In the City of Silvia (En la cuidad de Silvia, 2006) and Albert Serra’s Honour of the Knights (Honor de cavalleria, 2006) and Birdsong (El cant dels ocells, 2008) and coproductions realised with major filmmakers outside Catalonia – like Manoel de Oliveira’s The Strange Case of Angelica (O Estranho Caso de Angélica, 2010) and Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s Uncle Boonmee who can Recall His Past Lives (2011).
The UK premiere of Mighty Flash (Destello bravío) which he co-produced, offers an opportunity to engage with the work of a producer and director – his own works include Familystrip (2009), Falling Star (Stella cadente, 2014) and Love Me Not (2019) who has made a unique and lasting contribution to Catalan cinema.
