ICA is closed from the 30 May – 3 June inclusive.
North Pole, dir. Marija Apcevska, Macedonia 2021, 15 min.
They had no words but to conceive their longing silently. Tethered by reality of others, men searching for passing love, a teenager fails to recognise herself, a mother to be is in despair at her community and a child's mind runs wild in quarantine. Today may look like tomorrow, but it's not the same.
These short films each contain their own mystery; a selection of International Competition shorts from Brazil, Macedonia, France and Iran. A young girl ponders her sexuality whilst another faces an arranged marriage, a woman is drawn to a new religion, and a garden comes alive at night whilst a city sleeps.
These beguiling and beautiful films, curated by Qila Gil, are all in the running to win Best International Short at LSFF 2022.
