Never Eat Alone + Maison du Bonheur
Institute of Contemporary Arts
A hand with pink nails rests on cardboard cut-out pictures
Maison du Bonheur (2017), dir. Sofia Bohdanowicz, Canada, French with English subtitles, 62 min.

This double bill brings together Sofia Bohdanowicz's debut feature and first entry in the Audrey Benac series, alongside a captivating portrait of Parisian astrologer Juliane and her beautiful Haussmannian apartment.

In Never Eat Alone, Joan regails her granddaughter Audrey with reminiscences about a 1950s TV show she starred in and the man she loved before she met her husband. Curious to see the TV show and to know more about her grandmothers lover, Audrey embarks upon a search into the past. The film marks the first introduction of Sofia Bohdanowicz's on-screen alter ego and titular archival detective Audrey Benac, played by Deragh Campbell.

About to turn 30, with 30 rolls of film, a Bolex, and a sound recorder in her suitcase, a filmmaker (Sofia) travels to Paris to capture the domestic day-to-day life of a woman she's never met Parisian astrologer Juliane and her beautiful Haussmannian apartment Maison du Bonheur.
