'The more you think, the more you see'

A double bill bringing together one of Hong Sangsoo's most rigorously composed works and his most structurally playful.

In Our Sunhi, film student Sunhi (Jung Yumi) returns to the city she used to study in before mysteriously leaving some years previous. Upon her return she finds herself reunited with three men by a mix of choice and chance, all of whom seem very sure of who Sunhi is and what she should do.

In Hill of Freedom, Kwon returns to Seoul and receives a packet of letters left by Mori, who has come back from Japan to propose to her. As she walks down a flight of stairs, Kwon drops and scatters the letters, all of which are undated. When she reads them, she has to make sense of the chronology, and thus the film unfolds as a puzzle of crossed timelines and instances. In Hong's hands this playful premise illuminates an at turns hilarious and haunting examination of love, longing and language.
