Jacques Audiard (Dheepan, Rust and Bone, A Prophet) returns with a tale of very modern love in the City of Light – a rich tapestry tightly woven from three stories by American cartoonist Adrian Tomine.
Émilie (Lucie Zhang) is a young French–Taiwanese woman making a modest living working in a call centre. Camille (Makita Samba) is a recent graduate, a high-school teacher and Émilie’s new lodger. Nora (Noémie Merlant) is a mature student uprooted from Bordeaux to Paris. Amber (Jehnny Beth) makes her money online as a cam girl. Though this quartet have little in common save their location in Paris’s 13th arrondissement, Audiard and co-writers Céline Sciamma and Léa Mysius connect the disparate threads of their lives into a telling portrait of love, fidelity and identity in the here and now of the 21st century.
