Watch

The International Space Station orbits the earth every 90 minutes and experiences sunrise and sunset every 45 minutes. Watch their live stream of the earth as it spins. For the super-curious, see what’s going on inside the space station right now here.

Pippo Delbono’s experimental theatre practice is like a sacred ritual, binding those who act to those who watch in a poetic blend of images, original writing, music and dance. The company of the same name was founded in the early 1980s and is still active today. Here Delbono shares a selection of his remarkable works with us.

Read

A few of my friends have asked that I recommend books to read, so I’ve started a list of my favourite reads that were published in 2019. Today’s contribution is a polyvocal ‘fusion fiction’ novel that won the Man Booker Prize and follows the interconnected lives of 12 characters, primarily black British womxn, of different ages, sexualities, classes and cultural backgrounds. Last year, during a Politics of Pleasure event at the ICA, I had the actual pleasure of talking to Evaristo.

Last year our colleagues at the ICA Philadelphia conceived a talk series under the title I is for Institute, which reflected on their own institutional identity and imagined conceptual alternatives regarding what an institute could be. Here the German writer and critic Tom Holert talks about the Harun Farocki Institut, Berlin, dedicated to the late German filmmaker, artist and author.

Listen

The well-informed filmmaker and author of Trans: A Memoir (2015) Juliet Jacques interviews artists and writers in this rigorous podcast series. This is a stand-out arts programme in the growing UK podcast scene. The recent session with Joanna Walsh presciently touches on the overwhelming pressure of artistic response in times of crises.
