A red-haired anime basketball camera squats on the court of a big game, in front of a hoop and flashing lights
The First Slam Dunk, dir. Takehiko Inoue, Japan 2022, 124 min., Japanese with English Subtitles, 12A

Ryota Miyagi and basketball have always been one thing. His love for this sport was transmitted to him by his older brother Sota, who died in an accident at sea when Ryota was still very young. He is the point guard of Shohoku, a team from the Kanagawa prefecture that gained a spot at Inter High despite being unknown. Ryota is ready, together with his teammates, to face the unbeatable Sannoh, the champion team of the local tournament. The debut feature from best-selling author Takehiko Inoue is thirty years in the making – an adaptation of the long-running manga and anime Slam Dunk.
