The Spiral is a turning, a gathering – a world in the making.

To celebrate Ignota’s fifth birthday, Jaar explores the spiral path in an improvised solo set for bass clarinet and electronics. This concert is accompanied by sets from artists Flora Yin Wong, Chooc Ly Tan, and TFT (Stephen McLaughlin) as a continuation of the Ignota Gathering: The Spiral at St. James’s Church earlier that day.

Nicolás Jaar is a musician whose work has spanned various shades of pop, ambient, noise and club music. In recent years, he has mainly focused on education, teaching sound editing and listening workshops to emerging musicians and non-musicians alike.

Following the seated concert by Jaar and opening set by Flora Yin Wong, The Spiral afterparty goes deeper into the night.

Nicolás Jaar is a musician whose work has spanned various shades of pop, ambient, noise and club music. In recent years, he has mainly focused on education, teaching sound-editing and listening workshops to emerging musicians and non-musicians alike in institutions such as: the Museo de la Memoria in Santiago, Chile; Akademie Der Kunst in Munich, Germany; free.wav in Attappadi, India; Festival 4x4, Chiapas, Mexico; Dar Jacir and Alrowwad Center in Bethlehem, Palestine, among others. His latest albums entitled Cenizas and Telas were released in 2020 through Other People, the imprint he founded in 2013.

Chooc Ly is an artist, DJ, producer, party purveyor and voyager, forging astral connections through kaleidoscopic spectrums of club music and futuristic sound – fierce and emotional. Recent gigs include: av_cache, TASTE, GGI 끼, Body Movements Festival, Swallow in LA, and Poekhali! at Bergen Kunsthall, Norway). Recent releases include ‘Exaltation Onirique’ on the Chinabot compilation 5, and remixes on metronomicon, Lost Map and La Boocle. The next release is upcoming later this year, with a contribution to the OUTPUTS sampler1 compilation.

TFT is Irish multimedia artist Stephen McLaughlin’s silo for his techno productions. His other work as An Trinse is known for its long durations and conceptual intricacy. TFT is aimed straight at the dancefloor (even if it’s a slightly sticky, off-kilter one). He has released several albums on his own label and recently Die Glocke on London’s House of Reptile. He also has a long running audiovisual collaboration with Maxwell Sterling, performing as a duo at festivals such as Mira and Semibreve. Recently, he has created a video piece in conjunction with the Royal Academy reacting to the work of Marina Abramović, to show at Piccadilly Circus.

Flora Yin Wong is an artist and writer from London, UK. She started her record label and publishing house Doyenne in early 2023. Her debut album Holy Palm was released on Modern Love and has previously featured on labels like PAN (Berlin) and Danse Noire. She has had her music performed at INA GRM, Palais de Tokyo Paris, and the ICA. Her first book Liturgy, exploring the lines between fiction and non-fiction, was published in 2021 on PAN x Primary Information.
