Une femme est une femme
Institute of Contemporary Arts
Une femme est une femme, dir. Jean-Luc Godard, France 1961, French with English subtitles, 84 min.

Godard's 'neorealist musical' is a delightfully playful comedy centred upon a burlesque dancer who wants to have a baby but finds herself rebuffed by her lover.

Starring Anna Karina, Jean-Claude Brialy and Jean-Paul Belmondo, Une femme est une femme is a dazzling compendium of wit, colour and music that both slyly interrogates and pays tribute to the MGM musicals of the 40s and 50s.
