Leave No Traces
Institute of Contemporary Arts
Leave No Traces, dir. Jan P. Matuszyński , Poland / Czech Republic / France 2021, 160 min.

It’s 1983 and communist Poland is still under martial law. After being arrested and beaten by the police, Grzegorz Przemyk son of the opposition poet Barbara Sadowska (Sandra Korzeniak) dies. The only witness Jurek Popiel (Tomasz Ziętek) decides to testify against the police, bringing the weight of the state against him.

Based on Cezary Łazarewicz’s award-winning reportage of the same name, Leave No Traces is a moving picture of the injustices of the late communist era in Poland. The film won three awards at the Gdynia Polish Film Festival, and was selected to compete for the Golden Lion at Venice Film Festival.
