A woman uses an apparent death sentence to reinvent her life in this compelling feature from writer-director Emily Atef (Molly’s Way, 3 Days in Quiberon).
Hélène (Vicky Krieps) lives a happily uneventful existence in Bordeaux with her husband Matthieu (Gaspard Ulliel). But when she’s diagnosed with a rare lung disease, she soon begins to feel suffocated by the predictability of her life and the threat of her imminent death. Googling ‘what to do when you are dying’, she stumbles on a Norwegian blogger (Bjørn Floberg) who documents his own battle with terminal illness online. She feels strangely invigorated by his attitude – and, perhaps as a result, grows unexpectedly distant from her husband. Krieps and Ulliel (his penultimate film role) are brilliant as a couple who are forced to imagine the unimaginable and find a way to get through it – together and separately.
